Born in Athens, from his school years he was the first piano solist in Greek Radio.

With his quartet and his orchestras he has worked with all the famous singers of the time (Danae, Maroudas, Molly, Panagopoulos, Nini Zaha, Jimmy Makoulis etc).

While a young pianist he won the first prize of music at the University of Minnesota in 1951 and the next year was elected in the fifth position in the U.S. as a pianist.

Since1952 he has dealt with the composition and was distinguished six times in our country, and seven times internationally (Barcelona, Warsaw, Belgium, Paris, USA, Tokyo and Alto Monte of Italy).

He discovered or established with his songs many of today’s famous singers and actors (Zoe Kouroukli, Nana Mouskouri, Jenny Vanou, Giovanna, Marinela, Koumioti, Giannis Vogiatzis, Fotis Dimas, John Poulopoulos, Tolis Voskopoulos, Stratos Dionysiou etc).

He worked in every field of recreational, classic and progressive theater and cinema and took Greek and international awards (Paris, Edinburgh, Alto Monte, Washington, Karlovy Vary).

He has composed music for 104 movies and 70 theatrical plays.
His works were conducted by the greatest orchestras in the world.

He was repeatedly honored with gold and platinum albums while his work "O dromos’’ (The Road) (lyrics by L. Papadopoulos) undoubtedly holds the first position in the Greek discography.

In 1993 he composed the music for Orwell’s "Animal Farm" which was presented at the National Theatre and was directed by D. Potamitis.

In 1998 he completed the folk opera "Zeus" in libretto by John Kalamitsis and the first release of the album was from Universal.

In 1999 he completed the oratorio "Kosmas of Aetolia, o Agios ton sklavon (the saint of slaves)" in libretto by Iakovos Avlitis, that was presented in 2002 at the Athens Concert Hall.

In June 2000 the city of Athens honors him for his fifty-year contribution to Greek music and culture and Athens Mayor awards him the "Gold Medal of the city" in a big symphonic concert at the Athens Concert Hall. He is honored for the same reason by the Navy General Staff at a special event at the Lycabettus Theatre during the Athens Festival.

In January 2001 the President of the Greek Republic awards him the Gold Cross of the Order of the Phoenix for his contribution to culture.

In 2001 the Cyprus Theatre Organisation initiated the Kypria with Mimis Plessas’s operetta in libretto by Costas Virvos inspired by the Dialogues of Lucian entitled ‘Ta kamomata tou kato kosmou’ (The antics of the Underworld).

On May 30, 2002 under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture he is honored for his 50 year presence in the Greek music scene in a particularly successful ceremony with the participation of leading names in the Greek music scene at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

Furthermore, on November 27 he gave a big concert at the Music Hall with the participation of Yiannis Kotsiras and Dimitris Basis and was honored by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Intellectual Property as the most time lasting Greek composer.

In September of the same year he is awarded for the fourth time by the Academy of Korfiatis awards for his contribution to cinema.

In November of the same year the Hellenic College of London conferred the title of Honorary Doctorate of music for his fifty-year contribution.

On December 15 2003 is honored at the Aristotle University for his contribution in arts.

In 2004 he composes the original music and songs in the television series ‘The children of Niobe’ by the academic Tasos Athanasiadis which was directed by Kostas Koutsomytis and coproduced by ERT and RAI.

On 26 January 2004 the Varvaressos Foundation honors him for his contribution to arts and culture.

On 4 February 2004 he is awarded by the Minister of Culture the title "Man of the year’’ for his cultural contribution to world culture.

On August 1, 2004 at a big concert encounters the passage of the Olympic flame in Stylida and is honored for his fifty-year contribution to art and culture.

In 2005 the Athens Festival honors him by entrusting him the opening concert for the celebration of the 50 years of the institution.

He completes the symphonic poem "Dance of the spheres" by order of Evgeneidio Planetarium which was presented for the first time internationally in September 2006.

In Giannitsa is honored by the festival of choirs and with the support of the Metropolis of Veria and the Metropolis Naoussa directs the oratorio of "Kosmas Aitolos" and assumes the composition of a musical work regarding the life and teaching of the Apostle Paul for the Pauline 2006. 
The distinguished composer and his associates are hosted by Demetria 2005 and have a special place in the cultural activities of Demetria, and at the same time he is nominated by the Central Conservatory and the Philipos Nakas Conservatory for his continuous contribution.

In the spring of 2006 he is nominated by the Academy of Personalities for his overall contribution to culture and by the Apollonia 2006 for his contribution to arts and culture.

In October of the same year he was honored by Domi publications at the Athens Concert Hall presenting a magnificent three-hour concert with references to the history of Greek music.

In 2007 his compositions are recorded in the U.S. Great. Britain, France, Holland and Spain.

On Sunday of Orthodoxy , invited by Patriarchate of Constantinople he presents for the first time the concept song "Streets of the sea" and "Lamar" inspired by Greek and Hispanic poets.

In June 2007 in "Paulia" under the auspices of the Metropolis of Veria he presents a project dedicated to the genocide of the Pontians.

At the same time he maintains all his activities, always keeping the high level that characterized all his creations and concert performances that established him internationally.
